  • The journey begins at the cold, windy summit (at 4,700 m / 15,419 feet), offering fantastic views of a range of snow-peaked summits, including Huayna Potosí (6,088 m.a.s.l. / 19,973 feet).
  • From here, you'll quickly descend on a winding paved road, passing through snow-covered mountains, grazing alpacas and llamas, quaint villages, and an anti-drug checkpoint.
  • There's a brief undulating section before entering the rainforest, known as the trip's most challenging part because it's a narrow mountainside with a 1,000-meter cliff on one side and waterfalls on the other. (Note: Since March 2007, most of the traffic on this road has diminished as the new road is used, leaving it almost empty for sightseers.)
  • As the ride progresses, it becomes increasingly hot and dusty. Once you reach the bike's endpoint (Yolosa, 1,150 m.a.s.l. / 3,772 feet), you'll proceed to the Animal Refuge La Senda Verde, where lunch is served (salad and pasta buffet). You can take in the magnificent scenery and enjoy cold beverages while relaxing by the pool.
  • There's also an opportunity to view rescued animals if you wish before returning to La Paz by vehicle.
  • Please note that transfers to and from the meeting point are not included, nor is the circulation tax.
